My nom-de-plume is Melissa BEE (capital letters only please) - because the name Melissa means honeybee, and my previous surname began with the letter B. Naturally, Melissa B. evolved into Melissa BEE. I am the researcher, writer, designer and producer of these books.

My husband helps with graphics, publishing, promotion, sales and distribution. Together we are FIRST NAME BOOKS (our business name and our website name)

ABOUT FIRST NAME BOOKS

I write books about names - first names. I effectively created my own genre! Traditionally genealogy deals with etymology (the origins of a word) and the onomatology (proper name research) only of a surname; a last name or the FAMILY name. With my genre, I only deal with a First Name - the name that people are known by, or the name that people were born with. The most common variant of that name in places, businesses and so on. For example; I cover Kathryn Grant - who was born Olive Kathryn Grant; in both "The Catherine Book" and "The Olive Book"

While I am a qualified journalist, my style of writing does not conform to journalistic rules. I call this style of writing "INFOTAINMENT." The books are written in an easy style so it can be read on any page or at any point. You could call it the ideal coffee-table book; however each First Name Book does have a special audience, because each First Name Book is directed at the reader whose name is on the front of the book

Each book is a mini-encyclopedia about that name.

The Site is purely for promotion and sale of the First Name Books.

First Name Books is a unique product that I devised and created and we are the only company in the world is doing this. Each First Name Book requires an exhaustive volume of research, time and effort to create each unique book about a first name.

After the Top 10 male and female names are written, the books will be advertised in mainstream media. At that point I aim to start concentrating on the Top 100 male and female names. I aim to write about 6000 First Name Book titles.
